How far is the ski lift from Chalet Le Sabot?

100m. The L'Alpette gondola will take you straight into the heart of the Alpe d’Huez ski area.

Is Chalet Le Sabot ski in / ski out?

With a good dump of snow then YES, but most of the time the roads are cleared and so you can ski to within 100m of the chalet. The walk back to the chalet door is downhill which is always good news after a hard day on the slopes.....!!

What meals are included in the price?

Breakfast-cooked to order with daily specials. Afternoon tea (consisting of tea, coffee, freshly baked cake plus our chef's own recipe vin chaud. Your evening meal is 3 courses and includes wine and beers. 

How can I book Chalet Le Sabot?

Phone or email the office (see ‘contact’) who will discuss your booking requirements with you. 

Is a deposit required to book?

Yes, a 10% Deposit is required to make a reservation.

Do you offer discounts for children and babies?

Yes. For infants under 2 years sharing the parents room there will be no charge.Those between the ages of 3 and 12 may be entitled to a discount on the advertised price.

Do you offer discounts for large groups?

We may offer discounts for a single booking of more than 6 persons during non premium weeks.

What is the nearest airport?

Grenoble, just 65km or 1 hour from Chalet Le Sabot

Are transfers included?

No. However we organise transfers for you as part of our standard booking proceedings. Costs will vary depending on your arrival airport.

What is the changeover day for Chalet Le Sabot?

Is there child care at Chalet Le Sabot?

Yes. There is an excellent nursery 2 minutes walk from the chalet who take children from 6 months to 6 years all day. The owners themselves have used the nursery for there own children.

We also have the option of a private nanny. The owners themselves have used the services of this particular nanny, who in turn was recommended to them. 

Do you offer short stays?

Yes, potentially, as a last minute option provided dates work with existing bookings.

Do you offer exclusive use?

Yes. Premium weeks require a minimum of 8 full paying guests who will have exclusive use of the chalet. Exclusive use for any group size is available at all times based on the price of 8 full paying guests.

Are the bedrooms en-suite?

No, however there is, essentially a bath/shower room per guest bedroom, just a step away. There is an extra shower in the sauna area. There is also plenty of hot water so everyone is happy!

Is self catering an option?

No. Our hosts over the winter provide healthy and delicious meals and snacks, you will eat and drink very well and enjoy being looked after! Nothing beats returning wet and cold from a long day on the slopes than being greeted by a warm drink, fresh cake and the glorious aroma of dinner cooking!

Is there a hot tub at Chalet Le Sabot?

No, better than that we have a beautiful, traditional sauna which will be hot and awaiting your return from the slopes! Relieve aching muscles, relax and come away smelling discreetly of essential oils rather than chlorine!

Are packed lunches an option?

Yes. Our hosts are happy to make up packed lunches for a small fee.

Do you accept well behaved dogs?

Yes, subject to owner approval.

Is Chalet Le Sabot suitable for disabled guests?

Please discuss your specific needs with the office. There is no wheelchair access to Chalet Le Sabot.

Is there internet access at Chalet Le Sabot?

Yes. Complimentary WiFi is accessible around the chalet. You will need to bring your own PC however (and remember- you’re on holiday...!)

What happens about meals on the host’s day off?

On our Hosts day off (usually Wednesday) there will be no cooked breakfaast and no evening meal. A buffet breakfast will be laid out for you in the morning  and in the evening our hosts will recommend  a restaurant for your dinner. The host will, of course, make all the arrangements for you. 

Can an early children’s tea be provided?

Yes, this can be arranged this with the office upon booking.

Is lunch included in the price?

No. The price includes breakfast, afternoon tea and dinner with wine. Packed lunches are available on request at a nominal, additional cost.

Do you cater for vegetarians?

Yes.

Do you cater for special dietary requirements?

Yes.

Are guests able to come and go as they please?

Yes, you will have your own key.

Can guests eat lunch at the chalet?

Yes, although no cooking facilities are available (you may of course warm baby food)

Do you cater for babies?

Yes. The owners have 2 children under 3 and so have made sure all possible equipment is available. Please see our Children’s section or ask the office for full details.

We are celebrating a special occasion during our stay are the chalet hosts able to provide a celebration meal / cake?

Yes. We like celebrations (birthdays, anniversaries, promotions etc) so if you have something to celebrate then let us know. We can provide a cake (with candles if necessary) and we can also keep a secret if it is to be a surprise.

Are the hosts live-in?

Yes. They are professional and very discreet.

Is there somewhere to dry clothing and equipment?

Yes. We have a fantastic, heated boot room with rails to hang clothes and integrated boot warmers to ensure the insides of your boots are warm and dry every time you put them on. There is a bench provided so you can comfortably get kitted up.

Are there laundry facilities?

Yes, although not for general use. Our hosts will be happy to launder any "necessary" items for your during your stay, for example baby clothes. We won't be sending you home with washed and laundered clothes I'm afraid.

What type of ski pass will be needed?

Most guests purchase a full mountain pass. However you may not need this, depending on your ability level and perhaps weather conditions. Please see our ‘Lift Pass’ section for more details or contact the office.

Can Chalet Le Sabot organise lift passes?

No. Unfortunately this is about the only thing we cannot organise for you, only advise. This is because we only operate one chalet so the lift pass company don’t recognise us as commercially viable for them.

Do the ski instructors speak English?

Yes. We make sure of this when we make your booking. 

Will a car be needed?

No. Unless you want to go to a completely different resort. None of our guests to date have ventured, or felt the need to venture, from the resort or main ski areas accessible by mountain lift. There is just too much to do to bother going anywhere else.

How much does the transfer cost?

This depends on your arrival airport. Please visit our 'Transfers' section for up to date prices and information. We can organise this for you as part of our standard booking procedure.

Is the resort snow sure?

Historically we have very good snow throughout the season. In 2011/ 12 we had the best snow in the Alpes for 46 years! During milder times you can easily access the highest piste which has snow year round.

Is Chalet Le Sabot privately owned?

Yes by a couple from Bristol, England who take immense pride in Chalet Le Sabot and spend much time there throughout the year with their two small children.

Will we share with other people?

If there are 6 or fewer in your party it is possible other guests will join you. We have close contact with all our guests prior to arrival so we will endeavour to match you appropriately. The ‘type’ of guest attracted by Chalet Le Sabot tends to be of a particular nature and we have never experienced any problems with mixing groups. It is an opportunity to make new friends!

Are guests allowed to use the kitchen facilities?

No. Other than to warm baby food. Our hosts will ensure you have everything you need. We are prohibited from allowing this by our insurers.
